American Forest & Paper Association - AF&PA is a large association of forest products manufacturers. Their site contains lots of information about current events, statistics about forests, various forestry programs that protect the environment, different types of forest and wood products, tools for educators and students, and plenty of other useful information.
Black Hills Fire Recovery Assistance Center - FRAC's purpose is to serve as a clearinghouse to coordinate information and inform the public concerning the efforts, knowledge and programs available for land rehabilitation after wildfires. The Fire Recovery Assistance Center is a non-profit organization funded and supported by the U.S. Forest Service and the Black Hills Resource Conservation and Development Association. FRAC was established by the Black Hills Resource Conservation and Development Association following the severe and destructive Battle Creek and Grizzly Gulch wildfires of 2002.
Glossary of Forestry Terms - In the realm of forestry, it’s an unfortunate truth that we tend to use a lot of jargon and lingo that means little to anyone but us. A firm called Forest Investment Associates has taken the time to define and list a large number of these terms.
Forestinformation.com - This site contains some good general statistics about the state of our world’s forests and some great materials for teachers and students.
Forest Resources Association - The Forest Resources Association (FRA) represents diverse segments of the wood fiber supply chain, including consumers of unprocessed wood fiber, such as pulp, paper, and building products plants; suppliers of unprocessed wood fiber, such as logging contractors and wood dealers; enterprises that support the forest resource industries, such as providers of equipment, tools, and services; and private forest landowners and managers.
Forestryimages.org - The good people at the Bugwood Network and the USDA Forest Service have put together a searchable database of photographs pertaining to forestry. Here, you’ll find pictures of different tree species, management prescriptions (silviculture), wildlife, forest insects and diseases, and much more.
Forestry.com - This site was established as a one-stop forest industry resource tool, designed for consumers, businesses, and government agencies seeking the products and services offered by listed site members.
ForestryUSA.com - This site is a directory of forestry organizations, companies, and services, as well as a clearinghouse of news and events information.
Idaho Forest Products Commission - All about Idaho forests! The Idaho Forest Products Commission (IFPC) was created in 1992 by an act of the Idaho Legislature. The purpose of the Commission is to "promote the economic and environmental welfare of the state by providing a means for the collection and dissemination of information regarding the management of the state's public and private forest lands and the forest products industry."
Intermountain Forest Association - The Intermountain Forest Association (IFA) is an organization of wood product manufacturers, forestland owners and related businesses in the Northern Rockies. IFA is headquartered in Coeur d'Alene, ID with satellite offices in Boise, ID and Rapid City, SD. IFA's site provides good news, information, and policy positions on public and private forestland management in the intermountain region.
Project Learning Tree - PLT is a nationally award-winning environmental education program designed for teachers and other educators, parents, and community leaders working with children ages pre-K through 12th grade. There is a PLT chapter in each state, including South Dakota, and this organization serves a crucial role in providing an objective, thoughtful framework in which our children can learn and think about the environment.
Society of American Foresters - SAF is the organization representing the science and profession of forestry in the US. Their site contains lots of information about forestry as a profession and educational discipline, and Society position statements on current forestry issues.
Washington Forest Protection Association - All about Washington forests! Washington Forest Protection Association (WFPA) is a trade association representing private forest landowners in Washington State. WFPA members are large and small companies, individuals and families who grow, harvest and re-grow trees on about 4.2 million acres
